100% Mongolian Cashmere

All of our products are individually designed and made 100% from the finest Mongolian cashmere, for that feeling of unrivalled luxury! Cashmere is between three and eight times warmer than wool, so this allows jumpers and accessories to be lighter, whilst retaining a wonderful breathable and soft cosy feel! We also try to do as much as we can for the environment in bringing you the highest quality cashmere. Click here to find out more.

Pure Luxury

The joy of cashmere!

Both the density of fibres and their diameter are greater than other wools and this creates a very fine soft luxurious texture. It is regarded as the softest of all yarns and is breathable, so the result is a material that feels wonderful in direct contact with even the most sensitive skin!

Cashmere care

The collection is made from 100% Mongolian cashmere of the highest quality. If looked after correctly it can provide years of luxurious warmth and style. Please read the notes below to get the best from your cashmere.
Washing: Cashmere can be washed in a washing machine. We recommend turning the item inside out, then using the delicates or wool setting (max 30 degrees) on a short cycle. A specialist cashmere wool wash detergent should be used. Items should be removed from the machine immediately after the wash.
Drying: Items should be dried flat, and not be stretched or twisted. Please do not hang your item to dry as this could result in a change of shape. Do not dry in a tumble dryer.
Ironing: It is not recommended to iron your cashmere.
Pilling: Light pilling is normal for cashmere items. It occurs when loose fibres tangle together. It is easily resolved with a wool (cashmere) comb. Simply run the comb over the item on a flat surface to remove any pilling when the item is dry. It is advised to do this after a few wears to remove any initial bobbling. After a few washes the pilling effect will reduce and the material will actually soften following this process and this is the sign of great cashmere. However, care must be taken to avoid the 'pilling' effect that can show from wear, when belts, necklaces or handbags rub against your cashmere.
Combing: Even the finest cashmere is not immune to pilling. Pills are the little balls of fibre that form on the surface of your knitwear, often caused by friction during wear. While pilling is a natural occurrence, it can detract from the luxurious appearance of cashmere garments. A cashmere comb is a simple, yet effective tool designed to remove pills and restore the smooth texture of your knitwear. Unlike electric fabric shavers, which can be harsh on delicate fibres a cashmere comb gently lifts and removes pills without damaging the fabric. This makes it an essential accessory for anyone who loves their cashmere collection! Regular use of a cashmere comb helps maintain the original quality of the garment. By removing pills, the comb ensures that the cashmere remains soft and smooth, extending its lifespan. A well-maintained cashmere piece looks more appealing and luxurious. As a result you are likely to extend your enjoyment of the garment.

How to Use a Cashmere Comb

Using a cashmere comb is straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Lay the Garment Flat: Place the cashmere piece on a flat surface to ensure even pressure while combing.
  2. Hold the Comb at an Angle: Gently hold the comb at a slight angle to the fabric.
  3. Comb in One Direction: Using light, short strokes, comb in one direction to lift and remove the pills.
  4. Avoid Over-Combing: Be gentle and avoid over-combing, as excessive force can damage the fibres.
Storage: When you are not using your cashmere items, they should not be hung in a wardrobe, rather they are best folded in a sealed box or bag. You can place lavender or moth balls inside as required.

Sustainability

At Mon Petit Cashmere, we are committed to finding innovative solutions that reduce our environmental impact, from how we source the cashmere and produce our garments all the way to how we ship them. This thinking applies to every decision we make and everything we do. To the very best of our ability, we also try to ensure that the people we work with, have the same values in terms of production quality and the footprints they leave behind.

One of the key aspects of our strategy is to ensure that our producers operate in a responsible and ethical manner. Our cashmere supplier complies with all the relevant laws and regulations regarding labour rights, health and safety, as well as environmental protection. They are also committed to improving themselves and invest in research and innovation to find new ways of maximising efficiency in production. Examples include, using undyed natural colour yarns for selected garments and using biodegradable fabrics. They have also brought in a system of recycling. By pre-consumer recycling cashmere, they reduce their waste and environmental impact, while preserving the quality and luxury of this precious material. This pre-consumer recycled cashmere is soft, durable, and luxurious, it offers the same quality, comfort and warmth as a regular cashmere. It is even more valuable to them than regular cashmere, as pre-consumer recycled cashmere yarns require extra care and effort to recycle and maintain sustainability. They also work with a team of trusted partners and farms who share their vision of producing knitwear products that are eco-friendly and degradable. It means that we are trying to bring you the highest possible quality at the lowest environmental cost.

We generate the minimum possible amount of packaging waste, but what we do produce, we recycle along the way. When you place your order, items are carefully packaged in reusable cotton bags and then placed in a waterproof, environmentally friendly, degradable postage bag ready to be sent.

We are committed to constantly striving to improve, and we will do all we can to keep Mon Petit Cashmere at the forefront of planning for the future in terms of sustainability and regard for the planet.
